Say goodbye to bulky plastic bottles and hello to the ultimate travel companion for your hair care routine: the Runaway Essentials Hair Bar. This 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner bar is all you need to keep hair clean, moisturized, and looking its best—wherever you roam.
Leaping Bunny certified and cruelty-free, each 50g (1.76 oz) bar replaces about 500ml of traditional shampoo, saving space and reducing waste. For added convenience and preservation, pair it with the Runaway Essentials Hair Bar Tin—perfect for drying out your bar between uses and keeping it secure wherever you go.
From wilderness treks to urban adventures, this hair bar is your go-to for simple, eco-friendly hair care.
Wet hair thoroughly. Apply the bar directly to wet hair from root to tip, or lather between your hands first and work through. Either way works. Use whichever feels right for your hair type. Massage into scalp and work through to the ends. Rinse thoroughly. Store in the Runaway Essentials Hair Bar Tin between washes to keep the bar dry and extend its life.
Designed for the Traveler
Your Hair Routine. Simplified.
Hotel shampoo strips your hair. Liquid bottles take up space you don't have. The right bar replaces both, flies in your carry-on, and works harder than anything you've been packing.
The Oil Blend
Every Ingredient. A Reason.
Peppermint Oil
Clarifying & Invigorating
Mentha Piperita Leaf Oil
Delivers a crisp, cooling sensation the moment it hits your scalp. Known for its naturally clarifying properties, peppermint removes sebum and product residue that builds up across days on the move. The ingredient that makes your hair feel genuinely reset, not just rinsed.
Lemon Oil
Clarifying & Bright
Citrus Limon Peel Oil
Adds a bright, uplifting finish that leaves hair feeling light and manageable. Known for its naturally oil-reducing and brightening properties, lemon cuts through the mineral deposits hard water leaves behind. The kind of buildup that makes hair feel heavy and dull no matter how many times you wash it.
Rosemary Oil
Balancing & Refreshing
Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil
An herbal note with real purpose. Rosemary is known for improving blood flow to the scalp, which supports the hair growth cycle and helps hair look thicker and healthier over time. The ingredient doing quiet work every time you wash, whether you're home or three countries deep.
Sandalwood Oil
Warm & Conditioning
Santalum Album Wood Oil
Warm, woody, and conditioning. Sandalwood has been used for centuries for its ability to restore moisture to hair that's been dried out by travel. Wind, altitude, and recycled cabin air all take something from your hair. Sandalwood gives something back. It doesn't announce itself. It just stays with you, long after the rinse.

What Travelers Are Saying
Real Trips. Real Results.
"I've been carry-on only for years and liquid shampoo has always been the problem. Either I buy bottles when I land or I check a bag. This bar fixed both. Lathers well even in low-pressure showers and my hair didn't feel stripped like it does with most travel shampoos. The peppermint scent in the morning is unreal."
"Had my shampoo confiscated at security two months ago and decided to try this. Haven't looked back. It replaces shampoo and conditioner in one bar, it's never been flagged, and it fits in the corner of my dopp kit. My hair actually feels better than it did with the expensive liquid stuff I was using."
"Spent most of this trip in the ocean. I was expecting my hair to be a disaster by day three. It wasn't. This bar cut through the buildup better than anything I've used after a full day in the water. Hair felt light and clean every time. Already bought two more for the next trip."
"Dry cold air, hard water, and back-to-back long days outside. I expected my hair to suffer. It didn't. This bar kept everything manageable the whole time and the conditioning formula actually works. I didn't need anything else the entire two weeks. The scent in a cold shower is genuinely amazing."
"I was skeptical that one small bar could replace two bottles for a month-long trip. It did, with room to spare. The tin keeps it dry between uses which I think is the key to making it last. Hair stayed clean and not stripped the whole time. Would not travel without it now."
"I have a sensitive scalp and most shampoos irritate it within a few days, especially when the water is different. This was the first travel shampoo that didn't. Gentle lather, no irritation, hair felt genuinely clean after every wash. The rosemary and sandalwood scent is really something."

Got Questions
We've Got Answers
Yes. The formula was built to work across hair types — fine, thick, dry, oily, curly, straight. The 2-in-1 conditioning base is designed to cleanse without over-stripping, and the conditioning agents adjust to what your hair actually needs. If you have particularly dry or coarse hair, you may want to follow up with a dedicated conditioner on longer trips, but most people find the bar handles it on its own.
It is. The bar contains Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, and Pro-Vitamin B5 — all conditioning agents that work during the wash to smooth the hair cuticle, reduce tangles, and retain moisture. Most people use it without a separate conditioner and don't miss it. That said, if your hair is very dry or very coarse, you know your hair better than we do. Use what works.
One bar replaces approximately two full-size shampoo bottles and lasts two or more weeks of daily use. The single biggest factor in how long it lasts is how you store it between washes. A bar that sits in standing water dissolves faster. Store it in the Runaway Essentials Hair Bar Tin between uses and it will last significantly longer.
Wet your hair thoroughly. Apply the bar directly to wet hair from root to tip, or lather between your hands first and work through. Either approach works — use whichever feels right for your hair type. Massage into the scalp and work through to the ends. Rinse thoroughly. Store in the Runaway Essentials Hair Bar Tin between washes to keep the bar dry and extend its life.
Liquid shampoo and conditioner are two bottles that take up space, count against your liquids allowance, and leak. This bar replaces both, flies as a solid so it never touches your liquids bag, and lasts longer than either bottle would. For a carry-on traveler, it removes the single most annoying part of packing a hair routine. You get on the plane, you get to the destination, you wash your hair. Nothing to think about.
Fair question and one worth answering directly. This bar contains Sodium Coco Sulfate and Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate. Both are coconut-derived sulfate alternatives that are significantly milder than the sodium lauryl sulfate found in most drugstore shampoos. We included them because a solid bar needs effective surfactants to lather well across different water conditions. Hard hotel water, low-pressure hostel showers, outdoor rinses — the bar needs to perform in all of them. These ingredients make that possible while still being far gentler than what's in most liquid shampoos. We are not a sulfate-free product and we will not pretend otherwise. What we are is a product that uses the right ingredients for the right reasons.
The Runaway Essentials Hair Bar Tin. It's built specifically for this bar — the waffled chloroprene insert on the inside keeps the bar elevated off the base so it drains and dries between uses rather than sitting in standing water. The waffled exterior prevents the tin from sliding on wet shower surfaces. Screw-top seal keeps everything contained in your bag. A bar stored properly lasts significantly longer than one left on a wet ledge. If you travel with the bar, travel with the tin.
